In 2015, DC Collectibles launched a new line of action figures in a 6" scale with multiple points of articulation. This smaller scale of action figures also included additional accessories often not included with other figures such as additional hands in various poses. The line ultimately produced 25 single figure packaged action figures as well as an Atom 3-pack, a Darkseid/Grail 2-pack, a Superboy/Robin 2-pack, a Superman/Doomsday 2-pack and a New 52 Justice League 7-pack. The Batman and Superman figures (#27 & #28) and the Justice League multi-pack were released in the 6.75" scale. There was also an accessory pack.

The first (and only) Marvel Family member to be produced for the line was The New 52 Black Adam. based on the Gary Frank design from the SHAZAM!: Rebirth storyline that was serialized in Justice League. DC intended to follow this release up with a Captain Marvel/"SHAZAM!" figure which was solicited but ultimately canceled.

Box

The DC Comics Icons line featured a beautiful four color window box with a standard design. Each box featured a specific character and indicated unlike other releases included a release number. Black Adam was the seventh release in the line.

The front of the box features a clear view of the Black Adam action figure as well as its accessories. The box features a gold/darker yellow color scheme on a white background. The back of the box features the characters in this second wave of release: The Flash (05), Blue Beetle (06), Black Adam (07), Lex Luthor (08) both in close-up and full figure photographs. The DC Comics Icons logo is prominently displayed as well as the DC Comics peel logo.

The back of the box also reveals the designer, Ivan Reis, and the sculptor, Dan Cortes.

The Figure

Height: 6.2"
Weight: 3.5 oz.
Points of articulation: 23 (head, shoulders, biceps, elbow pivots, wrists, chest, stomach, hips, knee pivots, calves, ankles)

Body

The body is nicely sculpted. One of the interesting aspects of the figure is that the lighting bolt insignia is a separate piece attached to the body rather than being painted on. This allows for the chest to bend without part of the lightning bolt disappearing.

Face/Head

The face and head features the typical Black Adam scowl. The eyes are whited-out perhaps indicating that he is lightning-charged. The head sculpt also features his pointed ears as defined in his first appearance in Marvel Family Comics #1 (1945).

Accessories

The figure also contains two additional sets of hands and an instruction booklet..

Hands

The Black Adam figure came with two additional sets of hands: left closed fist, right opened hand, and left and right hands with out-stretched fingers with blue lighting bolts.

Walt says...

This figure is well done although I wish it wasn't in a larger scale. I like the Kirby Krackle in the lightning bolt although I do hate the hood and that the lightning bolt is hard to discern due to the design. My only other complaint is that it is top heavy which makes it difficult to stand without a base or holder.

DC Direct, a subsidiary of DC Comics, started releasing action figures of DC characters and super heroes in 1998. Is Mister Mentor, the wizard Shazam?

Fall 1974 was an exciting time for fans of the original Captain Marvel as a live action Saturday morning TV show premiered on September 7. The show starred 31-year-old, relative newcomer Jackson Bostwick as The Big Red Cheese himself, Captain Marvel, 23-year-old Michael Gray as Cap’s alter ego, Billy Batson, and 61-year-old veteran actor, Les Tremayne as Mister Mentor or simply “Mentor” as he was often called. By Walt Grogan The Marvel Family, and particularly, Captain Marvel, produced some offshoots (sometimes unwittingly) -- one of which was Marvelman , who begot Miracleman, and who begot Man of Miracles. Man of Miracles is a character in Todd McFarlane's Spawn Universe. Man of Miracles is loosely based on the Miracleman character created by Alan Moore and Garry Leach (and shares the secret identity name of Mike Moran). Man of Miracles debuted in Spawn #150. Although it was marketed as an action figure, the Man of Miracles is best described as a painted statue with a few points of articulation. The is limited neck movement, his wrists move and there is movement at the waist and that's it.
